What organizations and programs are you involved with in the Richmond community?
“I live in Libbie Mill and enjoy being part of a neighborhood and making new friends in the area. I'm also a member of the Medical Reserve Corp of Virginia and have been volunteering at vaccination events around the area. “
Are you employed or in school? If yes, where?
“I graduated from Reynolds Community College with an Associates degree in Information Systems and Technology. I worked at Regal Theatres Short Pump before it closed because of the pandemic. It will be reopening in May, and I am looking forward to returning to work soon.”
How are you capable – what things do you do best?
“Recently, I moved into my own place with support of the Building Independence Shared Living Medicaid waiver. I have a great roommate and with his support, I've continued to improve my independent living skills, such as cooking, cleaning and taking care of household maintenance. I've always enjoyed fixing things, so now I'm learning to do household repairs. “
What do you want people to know about you?
“I would like people to know that I am a good friend and hard worker. I'm also goal-oriented, honest and have lots of interests. My main interests are Pixar movies, Star Wars, reading books, playing Candy Crush Saga and running. I'm also a collector of Legos, books and retro collectibles. I've put together a lot of the furniture in my place and am proud of living on my own with a roommate.“
If you could plan the perfect day, where would you go?
“My perfect day would be getting together with friends. We could go watch a movie, bowl or hike in a park. After that, we would go to Carytown and eat at Mellow Mushroom or Mary Angelo's.”
What do you like best about living in the Richmond area?
“I enjoy all of the things to do in Richmond -- from parks to shops and restaurants. I'm lucky to have family and friends in the area and like exploring new areas with them. “
What goals do you have for the future?
“My goals include continuing to live independently, working and learning new things.”
